Abstract

A general solution of the elastic fields in 1D hexagonal quasicrystals withpoint groups 6mm, 62h2h, 6̅m2h and6/mhmm is given in terms of four `harmonic' functions Fi(i = 1,2,3,4). Then we consider the problem of a circular crack embedded in aninfinite 1D hexagonal quasicrystal of point group 6mm. The results obtainedin this paper automatically reduce to those in the classical elasticity theorywhen the phason field is absent.
