Abstract

The cross-section for elastic scattering of light from CdS crystals is measured in exciton-resonance spectral region. The scattering is shown to result from surface roughness with r.m.s. height ∼10 A ̊ . The effects of correlation between roughness and surface excitonic potential are found which are explained by theory proposed.
