Elastic scattering of heavy ions and energy storing in compressed nuclear matter

Abstract

The physics leading from hydrodynamics to a nonlinear Schrodinger equation ∼ψ3 is recalled. The final expression given previously is re-written in terms of a partial-wave expansion and the equation is solved numerically. Applications to the elastic scattering of heavy ions lead to a nice correspondence of the differential cross-sections to experiment and to consistent values of the nuclear compressibility modulus,Kaverage=250 MeV−15%+7.5%.
