Abstract

In this experimental work, the elastic properties of Al0.15Zn0.85O nano-discs have been studied using the data recorded by an X-ray powder diffractometer (XRD). The Al0.15Zn0.85O nano-discs have been prepared by environmentally compatible, low-cost and easy green synthesis method, using Azadirachta indica (AI) leaf extracts. The elemental compositions of the nano-discs are confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer equipped with the field emission scanning electron microscope. The field emission scanning electron microscope image provides the average diameter and width of the Al0.15Zn0.85O nano-discs, which are ∼127 nm and ∼13 nm, respectively. All detectable XRD peaks could be indexed as the hexagonal wurtzite structure. XRD analysis gives crystallite size ranges from 3.31 to 7.70 nm. The Elastic properties of Al0.15Zn0.85O nano-discs have been examined by drawing stress–strain plots for the data obtained by the conventional peak analysis and the Rietveld refinement method using the same XRD data.
