Abstract

The elastic properties of graphene have been described in terms of the Keating model. It has been shown that the two-dimensional structure of graphene is described by two independent elastic constants, like an isotropic solid. The Young’s modulus and the Poisson’s ratio have been determined. The results are compared with the experimental data obtained for graphite.
