Abstract
The charge density distributions (CDD) and form factors of the medium and heavy nuclei were calculated using the radial wave functions of the harmonic oscillator assuming that the occupation numbers of shell states different from 0 or 1. The occupation numbers of shell states were found from experimental data on electron scattering. The modified shell model gives a good description of the model independent CDD of nuclei.
