Abstract
Herein we describe a self-consistent method on eigenstrain, by which we obtain a formula for the effective elasticity stiffness tensor pertaining to an orthorhombic aggregate of cubic crystallites. This formula, given in a closed form, delineates the effect of crystallographic texture on elastic response. A simpler form of the formula, which is obtained by truncating a Taylor expansion, is expected to be applicable to aggregates of crystallites with weak texture or to materials such as aluminum whose single crystal has weak anisotropy.
