Abstract

Elastic and Compton scattering cross sections for platinum have been measured at incident photon energies 23.10, 24.14, 25.20, 26.27, 32.06 and 35.86 keV. Experimental elastic scattering cross sections are compared with theoretical estimates based on form factor formalisms. Form factor values are deduced using the experimental elastic scattering cross sections. Experimental form factors are corrected by including the real and imaginary components of the dispersion corrections, in order to assess the dispersion effects and reflect the data on the current knowledge. Experimental inelastic scattering cross sections are higher than the theoretical values. To check the reliability of the non-relativistic incoherent scattering function further investigations are necessary in the low energy region.
