Abstract

1. A study was made of the influence of zirconium, niobium, and molybdenum carbides on the magnitude of radial elastic after-effect in the cold pressing of cermets with iron, cobalt, and nickel binders. It was demonstrated that, with increase in compaction pressure and carbide content, the elastic after-effect increases. 2. Confirmation was obtained for the dependence, established earlier, of the elastic after-effect on compaction pressure and on the amount of the hard component. A correlation is shown to exist between the physicomechanical properties of cermet components and a constant in the equation describing this dependence. 3. The possibility has been noted of employing relationships established in the study of the radial elastic after-effect for determining the axial elastic after-effect. The dependence of the axial elastic after-effects on radial was investigated and an equation was derived for the relationship between the axial, radial, and bulk elastic after-effects.
