Abstract

This article deals with the basic functions of an oral source file, emphasizing the necessity to preservation of documents and the current processes of digitalization of that kind of source. After establishing a basic terminology, the article emphasizes the interdisciplinarity concept as a necessary element in the work with oral sources. In relation to the archival treatment, the text focus on the appropriate descriptive instruments for an oral source archive, such as: registration of printed papers, inventories, catalogs and documental databases. The section of document treatment analyzes the transcription process and its methodology as well as the controversy around its respective advantages and disadvantages.
