Abstract

This paper has analyzed the differences in productivity growth, efficiency and convergence in firms belonging to groups of Spanish commercial distribution in the period 1997-2006 for a total of 42 sectors of activity to 4-digit NACE. The results obtained indicate the existence of high levels of inefficiency in the retail sectors and to a lesser extent those from the wholesale sector. The analysis of b convergence efficiency shows widespread existence practically in all sectors. Finally, the results of productivity growth show the same values of maximum growth of 1.6 percent that was similar in both groups of retail and wholesale activity.
