Abstract

Evaluating the degree of country risk and monitoring economic progress are important investment factors. This risk is a specific indicator for emerging countries and an important decision reference for foreign investment; it allows evaluating investment and designing related portfolios, reason that motivates the analysis and interpretation of its relationship with the level of foreign investment and, in turn, with GDP as an indicator of economic performance. The article shows that although Colombia has a satisfactory economy with a stable outlook which facilitates foreign public and private financing, the level of foreign investment during the period 2014-2015 has returned to 2010 levels, slowing down, thus, the growth of the country's economy.
