Abstract

The realistic elements in La corte de los milagros (historical characters, events that took place, news of the political situation of the time, everyday and popular details of the nation) are detailed. The author analyses how all this elements are distorted by the technique of the esperpento, making the play reveal the absurd and the grotesque of a world and its characters, the absence of order in what is real, the eternal return and Spain’s perpetual and cyclical tragicomedy.
