Abstract

The written text is still the main way for the transmission of information and scientific argumentation. But the preponderance of visual culture along with the possibilities of digital image lead to a greater presence of visual culture in scientific articles.The transformations in the field of High Education help a greater presence of the visual field in applied research. In that way, this text describes this new situation, and also performs an empirical investigation into the presence of iconic resources in Communication scientific papers. This journals are contained in the Journal Citation Reports from Thomson Reuters.
