Abstract

The reform of medical education is an active process worldwide. This document focuses on the situation in Spain in analogy with other reference countries. We analyze the structure and functioning of the sequential stages of medical education and training: undergraduate education, specialty training and continuing professional development. We also analyze the Bologna process, the numerus clausus, traditional and new academic programs, residency programs for medical specialization, continuing medical education, professional advancement and specific licensing areas.
