Abstract

This article presents the analysis of the linguistic uses of digital media written in Valencian, in the Valencian area, within the framework of standardology; more specifically, a study of the uses of the Valencian linguistic patterns. The first question is whether these patterns are still in use or, on the contrary, are evolving towards a more unitary linguistic pattern, at least in the field of written journalistic communication. Once the persistence of these patterns has been ascertained, despite some changes in the system of stereotypical variants, the plausibility of its relationship with the ideological connotations that have traditionally been associated with each pattern is analyzed. Precisely these connotations should be considered the main cause of the persistence of the Valencian language patterns.
