Abstract

Chronic liver disease is extremely common, and imaging plays a key role in its management. Elaborating an effective imaging report for chronic liver disease is challenging because of its multiple etiologies and the broad spectrum of imaging findings. For this reason, it is fundamental to use structured reports tailored to the different clinical scenarios. This paper covers the role of imaging and the fundamental questions that should be reflected in a radiology report for the diagnosis of chronic liver disease, both in relation to the identification and management of focal lesions in patients with chronic liver disease (including the use of LI-RADS) and in relation to diagnosis, staging, and decision-making in the management of hepatocellular carcinoma.
