Abstract

As founder of the Sociedad de Conferencias, leader and teacher of the Ateneo de la Juventud in the city of Mexico, Pedro Henríquez Ureña has been recognized as one of those responsible for organizing a series of readings of the Greek classics, with the aim of fighting positivism which prevailed in public education. Deals with the intellectual and career literary one of the Ateneo important members in the modern Mexican culture.
