Abstract
The purpose of this review is to document the care of chronic patients in the final phase of a terminal disease in intensive care units (ICUs). When this situation occurs you can be confronted with a phase transition called attention (over curative care to palliative care) process requiring clear and well defined, when we refer to limit life support, end of life situation and provide an alternative in Palliative care.This review has no quantitatively graded recommendations on levels of evidence that many of the recommendations are based on ethical and legal principles that are derived from evidence-based clinical practice.
