Abstract
This article analyses the Christmas Day Speech (December 25, 2012) of the King Juan Carlos I of Spain, a particularly difficult speech due to the social and monarchical crisis context. We study the different speech strategies used by the Royal House, and propose the hypothesis that the main goal of that speech was to rebuild the King's ethos and help to solidify the monarchic institution and the socio-political status quo.
