Abstract

The development of competencies becomes an urgent objective to promote effects on society. It is based on the obtained results in PISA. Therefore, teachers must propose activities that provide their development from school. Nevertheless, the connection among the competencies, the curriculum, and the teacher’s labor is not an easy task. In consequence, the research discusses the development of scientific competence in the classroom. The proposal uses knowledge based on the PISA competencies approach. Due to all of the above, the study takes into account the learning context of socioscientific interest. I structure the investigation from the PISA items analysis and the scientific sub-competencies comprehension; this comes from previous research. This process used a quasi-experimental methodology focused on high school students. The focus group obtained a relevant improvement faced to the control groups. The didactic implications highlight the need teachers have to design high-level cognoscitive activities; the purpose is to encourage the abilities and capabilities. It allows the connexion between different kinds of knowledge and sub-competencies. The students should reach them.
