Abstract

Bartolome Esteban Murillo painted a set of four canvases with scenes of St. John the Baptist’s life for San Leandro’s Convent in Seville, which are now scattered all over the world. A reproduction of one of them, “The Baptism of Christ”, by Jose Maria Escacena y Daza in 1826, is kept at Saint Peter’s Parish Church in Seville.
