Abstract

This research aims to describe the existence of bridal fence dance in Sukajaya village of South OKU regency. The research method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. The main techniques of data collection use Observation, Documentation, Literature and interviews. Data analysis techniques use qualitative data analysis techniques to obtain data that is explained in the form of descriptions. The results of research on the dance of the bridal fence still exist in the community but the way of presentation and implementation is different, it can be seen from the history, function and form of presentation. The shift in function and meaning in the dance of the bridal fence today then the emergence of a modern and practical culture, , so that people now choose entertainment in wedding events that are modern and practical people who used to use the wedding fence dance in every wedding event now the intensity of the show has decreased and only certain people who want to use the dance fence bridal that is a society that has a high economy. The existence of tari pagar pengantin is formerly the bride's fence dance is required in the wedding event in South OKU district and is considered sacred because the bride's fence dance symbolizes the bride's sanctity.
