Abstract

In this work, we present the design of a fault detection and isolation (FDI) system for the intake manifold pressure and temperature sensors of an internal combustion (IC) engine based on Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). The EKF design is based on ordinary differential equations which represent the dynamics of temperature and pressure of intake manifold. More precisely EKF provides the temperature and pressure estimation to produce analytical redundancy with respect to available measurements. Notice that this FDI system can allow for a healthy operation of the IC engine. Experimental results demonstrate the validity of the developed system.
