Abstract
Sugar beets were obtained from 15 different beet receiving points of Turhal sugar processing factory. Whole sugar beets were kept either for 7 or 21 days at the normal atmospheric conditions. At the end of the 7 or 21 days of storage the loss in the values of sugar in beet samples were evaluated. The highest sugar losses was found as 39.42 % for the beets were kept at the Akdagmadeni and the lowest one was 7.16 % at the Ezinepazari receiving points for the beets harvested at the first period. The maximum and the minimum sugar losses of the beets harvested at the second harvesting period also were occurred in the same receiving points with the first harvesting period, But sugar losses of sugar beets harvested at second term were nearly 6.12 % lower than the first term ones.
