Ekalavyan (Ekalaivan) in Jayamohan's Novel "Venmurasu" (Colored Ocean)

Abstract

The Venmurasu is a magnum opus written by author Jayamohan in 26 novels spanning 25,000 pages, which started in January 2014 as a daily chapter on the website. This novel is one of the greatest novels in the world. Varnakadal is one of the 26 novels featured in Jayamohan's Venmurasu. It unfolds in the Mahabharata as the story of the neglected, the defeated, and the passed over. In this, only the history of Ekalaivan, who is one of the representatives of the lower class people, has been taken as the subject of study. This review also explains the plight of Guru Drona, who refused to train him in archery despite being the prince of Asuranadu Garudakulam and the social conditions in which he was treated as an outcast because of being a Vedar clan member on the basis of caste difference. Composed with a different storyline from Vyasa Bharatham, this novel highlights the author Jayamohan's over-imaginative status, the rise to power of the people born into the upper class, and their transgression of the oppressed. Moreover, this analysis also shows that the voices of Ekalavya's father, Hiranyathanus, and mother, Suvarna, are the voices of the lower class against the ruling class.
