Abstract

Examples of the now extinct Peninsular Yuman language Cochimí, collected by the Jesuit Franz B. Ducrue in the eighteenth century are given. Historical and bibliographical information on these and other early Yuman sources is included. In addition, León-Portilla translates Ducrue's Latin glosses into Spanish to make them more accessible.
