Abstract

Abstract The importance of parts cleaning and drying in the metal cutting industry is increasing due to higher quality requirements. At the same time, rising energy prices and climate policy goals create increasing incentives to reduce energy consumption. This study quantifies savings potentials in the use of infrared radiators and inductors in industrial parts drying. The performed experiments illustrate that alternative drying technologies enable a reduction in energy consumption up to 65 %.
