Abstract

Scheler tried to establish a bridge between the phenomenological description of the essence of Einsfuhlung and the research of comparative religion on the phenomena of Einsfuhlung in different culture circles. However, he paid little attention on the discussion of cosmic Einsfuhlung in ancient Chinese thoughts, especially on the idea of “all in one” in the Confucianism of Song and Ming Dynasty. The theory of “all in one” contains the dimensions of metaphysics, Self-cultivation and social political meanings. It is significant to the comparative religious exploration on Einsfuhlung . Basically speaking, both Scheler’s Einsfuhlung and Confucian “all in one” have to face the social political realities in their time, and have the spirit and ambition of “benefiting the world”. And to wake up or have access to Einsfuhlung and “all in one” is the main priority for them. Compared with Scheler’s somewhat mysterious way, the Confucian tradition not only enriches the ideal types of cosmic Einsfuhlung , but also offers new and practicable skills for “re-train cosmic Einsfuhlung ” in the level of theory of Self-cultivating and ethics.
