Abstract
Within blockchain technology lies the potential to fundamentally change the financial industry. Above all, smart contracts, i.e. digital contracts that automatically monitor specified rules and can independently carry out defined actions when a certain event occurs, are able to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness in many standardized processes and products in the future. Therefore, this article examines some possible fields of application of smart contracts in the financial sector.
