Abstract

The tensions between the churches of the Reformation and the Roman Catholic church have increased recently. In view of this, the author of this article advocates an ecumenical concept of mutual respect. He deals with three questions: How much unity does the church need? How much plurality is compatible with its unity? What enables the church to maintain unity in plurality?
