Abstract

C 6H 5CSSRe(CO) 4 and the hitherto unknown CH 3CSSRe(CO) 4 are obtained by a new simple preparative method and good yields by insertion of CS 2 into the rhenium—carbon σ-bond of C 6H 5Re(CO) 5 and CH 3Re(CO) 5. The structure and bonding of the compounds are discussed on the basis of their mass, 1H NMR, IR and Raman spectra.
