Abstract

Into Weyl's theory of the limit-circle and the limit-point case we introduce a real proceeding with the consequence, that the boundary conditions become real, as it is usual with problems in Physics and Engineering. We study in this paper the limit-circle case for the interval 0 ≦ s < ∞; by itself result at some places also statements for the limit-point case. In a following paper, which will be based on the present, we shall deal with the interval −∞<s<∞ and also with the limit-point case.
