Abstract

A new computer has been developed for analysing the ultraviolet spectra of organic compounds into their component bands by simulating the spectrum using a sum of gaussian curves. The parameters, which are necessary, were determined by an iterative procedure, based on the least squares method. The method was tested on several compounds, the test on the spectra of aniline and nitrobenzene is described in detail.
