Abstract

Chickens immunized with three doses of oocysts of Eimeria maxima (Protozoa; Sporozoa) were completely protected against reinfection with high challenge doses of E. maxima but were completely susceptible to cross infection with low or high doses of oocysts of E. brunetti. Chickens immunized with different numbers of oocysts of E. maxima behaved in a similar manner. There was no evidence of cross immunity between the two species.
