Abstract

Infections of the hand due to Eikenella corrodens have been reported with human bites or clenched fist injuries. ~,2 As part of the normal flora of the oral cavity, this facultative anaerobic organism has been cultured from dental scrapings. 3 Although Eikenella paronychial infection associated with finger sucking and nail biting has been reported, 4'5 the development of Eikenella osteomyelitis due to chronic nail biting has not to our knowledge been reported.
