Abstract

The five-term WKBJ approximation is applied to calculate the eigenvalues for the potential V(x) = 1/2 kx2+ax4, k≳0 and a≳0. Numerical results are compared with those of Hioe and Montroll. It is found that the accuracy of the calculated eigenvalues improves rapidly with increase in the quantum number n. At n = 4, a seven significant figure accuracy is achieved and at n = 6, a nine significant figure accuracy.
