Abstract

The analysis of the eigenvalue spacing of the shell-model Hamiltonian has been performed and related systematics have been provided. Large differences between densities of particle and hole excitations and strong isotopic and isotonic effects are found. A method of estimating the particle-hole state density, which takes into account these effects, has been proposed.
