Abstract

Background and Aims: Platelet aggregation and thrombus formation link to cardiovascular (CV) disease and its clinical manifestations. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), an omega-3 fatty acid (O3FA), reduced CV events, including ischemic stroke, in high-risk patients (REDUCE-IT). We compared the effects of EPA on expression of proteins involved in platelet activation and aggregation in both pulmonary and vascular endothelial cells (ECs) under conditions of inflammation with cytokine challenge.
