Abstract
Abstract Digital health technology, also known as eHealth, could help improve the management of chronic diseases such as diabetes by facilitating data exchange between patients and health professionals. Further, the use of digital health technology and mobile devices could improve disease monitoring and strengthen patient empowerment. However, not all healthcare professionals are comfortable with digital health technology, and several barriers limit their use, including patients’ socio-demographic factors. Based on the results of a study assessing the eHealth profile of patients with diabetes, we will discuss challenges and opportunities in the use of digital health technology for chronic disease management.
