E-government construction and government governance performance level: Empirical research based on 31 provinces in China data

Abstract

In the digital age, the digital construction of government takes a significant effect on improving government governance performance. This paper aims to provide some suggestions for promoting the construction of China's e-government by sorting out the impact of e-government construction on government governance performance. By using the Tobit Model, this paper analyzes the relationship between the construction of e-government and the level of government governance performance. The paper finds that: (1) the infrastructure construction of e-government significantly affects the performance of government governance, which is an important core position among influencing factors; (2) the government's digital application construction, government network supervision and information disclosure of e-government have a positive impact on government governance performance; (3) the impact of network supervision quality on government performance is greater than the impact of digital application construction on government performance; (4) the impact of digital application construction on government performance is more excellent than information disclosure on government performance.
