Abstract

Egg and Banana sign is a novel radiological sign of severe pulmonary arterial hypertension. This sign occurs due to significant increase in pulmonary artery pressures causing increase in size of pulmonary artery and its appearance at the level of aortic arch. Egg and banana sign when used in combination with other clinical and radiological signs, it improves sensitivity and specificity for diagnosis of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Here we report a case of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension in a young male with severe PAH causing Egg and Banana sign on axial computed tomography of chest.
