Eficacia de los anestésicos locales en pacientes diagnosticados con pulpitis irreversible sintomática: revisión de literatura

Abstract

Symptomatic irreversible pulpitis is one of the main reasons for instead oof causes of emergencies in dentistry because within the symptomatology is nigth pain of varied intensity, where the use of local anesthetics is essential to perform the treatments, for wich this literature review was conducted to determine which is the most effective for managing the symptoms. As part of materials and methods, a bibliographic search was carried out in Pubmed, Sciendirect between the years 2016-2022, with the purpose of selecting relevant publications leading to identify the most effective anesthetic. Consequently, original articles such as clinical trials and meta-analysis were included in the selection. Lidocaine, despite being considered the gold standard in anesthetics according de scientific evidence, when compared to others, did not prove to be the most effective in many cases, in others, a similar effect was achieved compared to 4% articaine. The review also included strategies such as intraosseous injection, lingual or vestibular infiltration, or premedication as means to achieve a better nerve block.
