Abstract

The purpose of this study is to increase students' motivation and learning outcomes in learning basic automotive engineering competencies for light fire extinguishers (APAR) using a problem based learning model in class X TBSM 3 SMK Darussalam Karangpucung Cilacap. The focus of this research is to increase motivation and learning outcomes in learning Basic Automotive Engineering. This research is Classroom Action Research using Kurt Lewin's model. The research subjects are students of class X TBSM 3 academic year 2021/2022. Data collection using test techniques, observation, questionnaires and documentation. The indicator of success is an increase in learning motivation obtained from a learning motivation questionnaire. Learning motivation is said to increase if the data shows between 76%-100% good category. Mastery learning is declared classically passed if the mastery value reaches 75% of all students. Based on the research results, the application of the Problem Based Learning model in Basic Automotive Engineering subjects can improve student learning outcomes. This can be seen in the learning outcomes in the first cycle of 71%, an increase of 81% in the second cycle. In the third cycle all students reached the standard value or 100%. The application of the Problem Based Learning model in Basic Automotive Engineering subjects can increase learning motivation. This is indicated by the results of student learning motivation in the first cycle of students having high motivation reaching 62%, increasing in the second cycle 71% and increasing again 86% in the third cycle.
