Abstract

This class action research is motivated by the results of observations and interviews in grade IV of State Elementary School 1 Lesmana student interest and learning achievement in low science subjects, the author is interested in researching about students' interest and learning achievement in science subjects, aiming to find out the increase in interest and learning achievement of students in science subjects through the discovery learning learning model of Grade IV students of State Elementary School 1 Lesmana. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research. The subjects of the study were class IV students totaling 20 consisting of 6 men and 14 women. Data collection techniques use test and non-test techniques. The results showed that the discovery learning model can effectively increase interest in learning and effectively improve student learning achievement. The results showed that the Discovery Learning model can increase students' interest in learning and effectively improve learning achievement, the results showed that the first cycle with the percentage of completeness obtained by students was 60.90% with sufficient criteria. Cycle II with the percentage of completion obtained by students is 85.24% with very good criteria. The Discovery Learning model can also improve learners' learning achievement in each cycle. This can be seen from the results of the evaluation showing that the average of the first cycle is 41.91 with a percentage of completion of 40%. Learning achievement in cycle II can be seen from the average evaluation value in cycle II is 80.50 with a percentage of completion of 83%.
