Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality and quantity of rainwater in the villages of Karangtanjung, Pandowoharjo, and Sleman Yogyakarta and the effectiveness of using water filters with media (Lime, Carbon, Zeolite, Dakron & Gravel) to improve the quality of rainwater to support clean water needs. In this test, the environmental health quality standards PERMENKES RI Number 32 Year 2017 were used. The test results indicate that the rainwater meets the clean water quality standards with an average colour of 10 TCU, the turbidity of the original rainwater is 0.603, the turbidity of rainwater through the filter is 0.886, The TDS of the original rainwater is 3.13 mg/l and the TDS of rainwater through the filter is 3.36 mg/L and For the pH of the original rainwater, the average number was 7.35, while the pH of rainwater through the filter was 7.83; therefore, it was classified as water with a pH that tended to be alkaline. The use of filters is highly recommended for adjusting the pH of water and improving the quality of rainwater. Therefore, in terms of quality and quantity, rainwater is feasible and meets the requirements for clean water.
