Abstract

Two helical antennas, each with a parasitic conical helix, are studied as a wireless power transfer (WPT) system. Measurements and simulations indicate electromagnetic coupling and field containment can be optimized in this four-layer resonant WPT system for certain chiral metaparticle combinations of antennas and parasitic elements. Measured data using left- and right-handed combinations in the four-tier system indicates that there are three combinations that allow for efficient transfer in the nearfield. Further analysis (thru simulation) indicates that the chirality of the helices and parasitic elements impact field containment differently depending how the system is ordered.
