Abstract

The use of an analytical expression to model the traffic load distribution on a LAN is superior to simply using the step distribution, since it would allow for the straightforward incorporation of asymmetric load distributions into both discrete event computer simulations and analytical modelling techniques. Moreover, ready comparisons of the network performance for different asymmetric load distributions as well as calculations of the higher mathematical moments can also be obtained. >
