Abstract
The paper considers the effects of failures of shared objects in distributed systems. It presents efficient constructions for reliable test&set objects, which are composed of unreliable components. These improve previously published constructions, both in terms of the number of components needed in order to implement an object, and also in terms of the number of processors that can share it.
