Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, the spectrum allocation problem in cognitive radio was studied to improve the utilisation of spectrum by optimising the spectrum allocation factor. On the basis of investigating some existing evolutionary spectrum allocation algorithms applied in the spectrum allocation problem, a new efficient Taguchi algorithm based on orthogonal array was proposed, in which sigmoid limiting transformation was introduced to deal with the 0–1 discrete spectrum allocation optimization problem. A new random level based on Taguchi algorithm is then introduced to solve local optimal problem. The simulation results show that Taguchi algorithm has promising ability in improving the utilisation of spectrum resources when compared with traditional evolutionary algorithms. Besides, Taguchi algorithm has the advantages of easy implementation, low complexity dealing with high‐dimensional problem, and high efficiency in achieving optimum solutions.
